Covid-19 is a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. “CO” stands for corona, “VI” and “D” for disease. Covid-19 started to circulate in 2019, until it eventually affected the whole world by 2020, causing over 4 million job losses around the world. It became a pandemic, meaning if affected everyone worldwide.
How as covid-19 affected businesses?
A lot of businesses were forced to close worldwide because of this pandemic. These business owners were forced to find another means of running their businesses without opening their shops. Hence a lot of businesses found online platforms and started building their website, facebook pages and Instagram pages. So basically majority of the world business owners are online promoting their businesses and services because of this pandemic.
What does this mean for freelancers?
We are in the technology era, basically everything that you can think of can be done and found online. More businesses online, means more opportunities for online freelancers. These businesses are looking for your talents and knowledge to promote their products and services, design their logos, build their websites, set appointments, transcribe their zoom meetings, write their blog post, edit their videos, shoot short videos and the list goes on on one.
Won’t the market be saturated with so many persons online?
There is no such thing as a saturated market when it comes to a global workspace. As an online freelancer your services will not be limited to people in your country because your clients will come from all over the world. So dismiss this thought immediately.
What services can you provide online?
Whatever skills you have and whatever you are passionate about there is someone out there willing to pay you for your service. From dancing, singing, writing, talking “yes people will pay you to talk to them”, testing games, editing books, designing and managing social media accounts. I know there is someone out there waiting to pay you for your service, time to take the risk and start working online. I have been an online freelancer for the pass 5 years.
